Super Special #31

Inside N31, of course we tell you about the Special on the cover. A truly unique and original bike, designed and built on a Guzzi California base by the Gentlemen’s Speedshop in Geneva, for its owner Eloise Hamel.

Then, with great pleasure and thanks to Reportage of Monsieur U, we bring you back to Normandy, a magical place where for the third time one of the coolest events of recent times took place: the Normandy Beach Race. In 2020, the year of pandemics, it was probably the only motoring event, albeit in its second edition, not to have been banned!

Deus Ex Machina Japan presents its new creature: Beretta, a Special Moto Guzzi V50, very much sought after.

You can feast your eyes on the amazing Brough Superior Lawrence [the only completely production bike of this issue], a tribute to Lawrence D’Arabia and his SS100 and, in total contrast, the most followed and – perhaps – desired electric bike of the moment: the completely renewed and customized “on a certain level” Harley Davidson LiveWire by the customizer of Cologne Jvb-Moto.

Staying on theme of incredible bikes, we’re happy to tell you about the Film of Stefano Giacomuzzi, the project and the story with Cocco, adventurer ‘On Demand’ and the only resident of a microscopic village. Stefano managed to convince the lonely Cocco to embark on a rather demanding trip: from Italy to Uzbekistan with his 1939 Harley Davidson. Oh my God !!!

This issue of SS also hosts the amazing photos of the BMW R18 project from The Mansell Collection. Greg Mansell, son of the unforgettable Nigel, baptized it ‘The Leone’, like the nickname of his father at the time in Scuderia Ferrari. The Mansell Collection in Jersey awaits you for a visit, including original cars from the era of the Lion and crazy motorcycles.

From Samarkand … we take you to Poland, and we present the very refined Triumph Thruxton by Unikat Motorworks, then we move to Russia because we cannot resist the temptation to show you what can be done with a URAL – which passes from the spiked wheels to race on the ice of the Lake Baikal, Siberia, to the traditional ones to challenge the salt of Lake Bonneville in Utah!

Finally, we would have liked to leave you in the dark, but we preferred to tell you everything about the Special from Roland Sands driven by Brad Pitt in the fantastic short-movie made for DeLonghi’s worldwide campaign by director Damien Chazelle!

And again, The Mile Beach Race, the event organized by the London brand Malle London on the beautiful Margate beach … and the German appointment of the Krowdrace, challenge of Flat Track in Wolfslake, Northern Germany.

Don’t miss it!
